I had the enV2 and got an external memory card to use with it and when I upgraded to the Dare, I put the same card into it and had zero problems using any of the ringtones from it with the Dare. What people don't understand is that the card memory and the phone memory are different... In order to get the tones to work as ringtones, you have to send them to yourself in a pic message and save them as RINGTONES to the phone itself. The bitpim application is completely unnecessary... After you get the tone into your phone's memory, then you have to go into "my ringtones" to access them for use. Make sure you are going into "my ringtones" NOT "my sounds", when trying to get them to work.

A friend of mine just got the RANT as well and is having the same problems (can't get/use ringtones). I have tried inserting my SD card and transferring files (no luck), transferring date via computer (no luck), even tried the creation of a new file (still no luck). So, I contacted Sprint and was told that they do not 'support' outside actions of downloading ringtones (because they don't have a troubleshooting program for it). Therefore, even if you pay the extra $15/month to get the data package (WHICH I HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR THE SAKE OF RACKING UP .03/MB TRYING TO FIGURE IT ALL OUT), you will still ONLY be able to upload certain ringtones through the provider's database of r'tarded azz tunes. The way I see it, it's completely pointless to even have an external SD card if you can't use it. I have no advice on how to fix the problem other than simply getting a different phone (and possibly even provider), but make sure you drill the hell out of the sales department on this subject before you swap out! Reason being, if they answer any of your questions, and you find out later it doesn't work as you were told, you get free pick of your new phone, free exchange, and discounted first bill all due to false information.
