I have compiled a list of food that has improved my life and I know they CAN change your life (for the better) too!
By making these foods part of your regular eating habits, you can change the course of your biochemistry and stop incremental changes to your body that lead to disease, inflammation, hypertension, obesity, etc.
Foods & Drinks (in no particular ranking order)
• Broccoli, asparagus
• Sweet potatoes, garnett yams
• Beans (all types, soybeans, legumes)
• Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries
• Red grapes (better for you than white)
• Salmon (or other fish such as sea bass, halibut, cod, flounder) – 2 x per week
• Turkey
• Eggs (2~3 per week)
• Oats (steel-cut Irish oatmeal or porridge) – great source of dietary fiber
• Tomatoes
• Avocadoes (great for skin)
• Beets
• Bell peppers (red, orange, yellow)
• Yogurt, or low fat (2%) cottage cheese
• Watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, celery (internal cleansers due to water content & fiber)
• Spinach (kale or dark, fibrous lettuces (romaine, redleaf, bib)
• Swiss chard, watercress
• Parsley (nutrient-rich, great in salads); fresh dill in soups
• Red cabbage
• Sprouts (alfalfa)
• Nuts (fresh in shell if possible, not in a can or processed – walnuts, pecans, hazelnuts, almonds)
• Dark chocolate (> 65% cocoa; high in antioxidants)
• Citrus fruits (oranges, red grapefruit, tangerines, lemons)
• Apples (green better than red)
• Pumpkin (seasonal only)
• Tea (green, black, red, or white)
• Red wine
• Pomegranate juice
• Water (~1.5 liters/day) – distilled, deionized, reverse-osmosis preferred for purity
• Ezekiel 4:6 brand breads (made w/ living sprounts, gluten-free; rich in fiber)
• Wasa crispbread (great topped w/ lowfat cheese & sliced vegetables)
• Sauteeing oils: grapeseed, rice bran, walnut, safflower (use extra-virgin olive oil as a finishing oil)
Vitamins & Supplements (depends on what's missing in one's diet: not a fan of oversupplementation!)
• Vitamin C (1000 mg: 'NOW' brand is good; the most essential nutrient for health)
• Multivitamin (essential for proper absorption & assimilation of folic acid. Vitamins & minerals
work in synergy with components of flaxseed)
• Folic acid (folate) > 800 micrograms
• Flaxseed oil, extra-virgin (1 tbl spoon/day – great source of essential fatty acids: Omega-3,6,9)
• Flaxseed meal (add to cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, protein shake, sprinkle on waffles, etc.)
• Protein powder ("American Sports Nutrition" brand; mixed in water, rice or soy milk)
Coupled with exercise, you'll be off to a better life, enjoy!
