Its been quite long now ... anyways finishing off my review here. Regarding performance, the startup loading can take a little longer if you are into using too many applications. Apart from that no issues like hanging up or taking too much time to load applications. In fact my final conclusion would be that the 'Net Book' would be a good choice if you are looking into portability and medium-end usage.
Well, what I am about to share with you is something that I read about in our local newspaper recently. Its an interview with this guy called 'Johan Rockstorm' executive director of Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and Stockholm Resilience Centre. The interview was conducted regarding the discovery that he and a team of 28 scientists from around the world have discussed on how to deal with climate change.
And this is one of the extracts from the interview -
Who is the bigger culprit ? the developed or the developing world? It?s 20 per cent of the world?s countries, which are driving the enormous risks to the planet. And these are the old industrialised countries. The rest 80 per cent are keen to improve and that?s quite heartening. The developing countries are paying the biggest price. The boomerang effect is hitting them disproportionately. What?s amazing is that the developing countries are not in a blame game even though they have to pay the price. Imagine, some countries, like Maldives, have to think of relocating its people to some other land because of climate change. Yet, i don?t find the Maldivian president Nasheed blaming the developed world. After reading this part I couldn't stop laughing on how neatly he(Mr. Rockstorm) gave that camoflouged answer, that the culprits are infact the developed nations(note the words: 20% of world'scountries; old industrialised countries) contributing in a big way to the global warming crisis. Want more proof?, the statistics speaks for itself or else try this compare the living standards of an average family/person in the developed country and that of in a developing country.
C'mon people, this is no blame game I'm putting on, I suppose we all know whats the truth is. And its so ******* crap that people can't be honest about the fact.
Secondly he says -- "Whats amazing is that the developing countries are not in a blame game even though they have to pay the price.Imagine, some countries, like Maldives, have to think of relocating its people to some other land because of climate change. Yet, i don?t find the Maldivian president Nasheed blaming the developed world. " -- This was something that made me rude and made me felt what an idiot he(Mr. Rockstorm) is. Many of the developing nations are dependent on the developed nations in many ways from basic food & resources to modern technology. And for many nations (like Maldives) that are like dots in the world map, for them its a matter of survival when their nation is sinking as a result of global warming and all they seek is cooperation from the other nations. So could someone tell me, how would they ever join a blame game against the developed world?
We all share the same skies and live on the planet Earth hence we all have a common obligation to keep our environment safe, clean and green. But this also doesn't mean the measures we adopt should also be a threat to others.
By the way, did anyone happen to watch the movie '2012'? ... I just saw it yesterday, the special effects thrills are amazing, that too if you're watching it on the big screen. But at the end of it all I can say is, I just cant wait for the unrated comedy version of 2012... it will be laughing all the way to the grave...
Day 1. Cont'd ... Here comes the other con ... Upon starting I quickly went over to the User Manual to have quick check on those pre and post start procedures needed to follow. And somewhere in the booklet it read like if your battery status indicator starts blinking you need to charge. So I then set out to look for these 'Status Indicators' ... man!!... It really took some time to find these microscopic dot like white lights that was sitting just on the edge of the keypad platform...
So,as far now things are fine. The next part comes my performance check. My Day 1 review ends here n will be back with more, till then... its good night from here.
Finally, its here... My 'Lenovo S10-2', brought all the way from US and the price - nearly $260. And this is how my Day 1 goes...
Firstly looking at the looks - its a full black, slim, mini n cute S10. You have an inbuilt 1.3MP web cam. Then when looking at the keyboard you find that the button/key press space is so constrained that it just gives you the space only for you finger tips. So I am feeling a little uncomfortable on the typing as for now. The build quality looks very much average, like the build quality of an average calculator. On overall its just like having a maximized flap version of an average calculator, but anyways its cute.
Coming on to the features - the usual netbook features - its got 3 USB ports, a pair of audio sockets(headphones/microphones), VGA port - connection socket to an external monitor, RJ-45 port (Ethernet), built-in Wi Fi antennas, a built-in microphone for basic use like video conferencing, simple audio recording...etc., a Kensington slot (security lock key hole, where the lock is not provided), a card reader and obviously an AC power jack. Also featuring are these Lenovo special 'Quick Start' and 'Quick Recovery(Backup) buttons.
To all techies n netbook users,... I would like to know your overall experience with this new class of computers because I'm thinking to buy one. And i would like to know more about its performance (intel atom) on running multiple applications, time taken to load the windows, display, touch n feel, features (heard that it doesn't ve a optical reader), value for money...
Hi am Shemida from Mauritius, I just wanted to create a forum where every christians or even non-believers come, discuss and share their views about christianity... Clearing some doubts, asking questions, sharing their testimonies, telling why they believe in christianity, searching for help within this community... But please it is a kind REQUEST NOT TO CRITICISE ANY RELIGION INTENTIONALLY AND PURPOSELY... RESPECT OTHERS OPINION....
@SHEMIDA -- This is I suppose, how you started off with this forum and I do respect that, that is why I gave in my comment I'm not offending anybody. Also I respect that in a debate there would be both positive n negative remarks to it...
Firstly, I want to say that I just gave my opinion on the basis how I felt or how I thought about the comment you gave on the miracle thing. Well, you see I've no objections about the miracle but I felt it was silly to say "my father who was facing a near death experience, that too a Hindu, upon believing in Jesus his life was saved." --- I mean I've seen people over the past 15 years, who had faced ups and downs in their life, where some people die and others have a close call irrespective that they where Christian, Muslim, Hindu or a Buddhist.
That's why I wrote "it's a really silly comment" and I said "Often prayers do work" -- prayers have this effect of bringing a positive energy into you irrespective of what religion you follow... And finally the "no offense" part - that was meant especially at your father's hardship that he went through as you mentioned in the comment.
Secondly, you wrote in my guestbook "You dislike 'BIG MOUTH' (as written in your profile)... So you must dislike yourself as you are one! For your reply in Christianity forum...." --- Well Ms.Shemida, all I've to say about it is that "It looks all pink to a person with a pink shades on"
Christianity alone is not a answer to a global unity... We need to understand the term "Secularism" in depth...
There was this quote given by a famous French revolutionist - Voltaire, he said "Even if God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him" -- in the sense that if there are people who do not believes in god, it doesn't mean that he/she could acting wayward. We require certain amount of faith and in the well being of ourselves that is expressed through love, devotion, morality and ethics.
"Anything in excess will a negative effect, that could turn honey into poison "
So Shemida, please don't take anything too personal, its just my views as part of the discussion... Have a nice day, take care...
