Born: January 7, 1986 Where: Atlanta, Georgia, USA “Rebel music that breaks a non-intelligent notion of thinking which is rampant in today’s society.” 357-Artist, Activist and Author In the music business, many artists become similar to puppets being pulled by strings controlled by the powers that be. Just as long as you keep them smiling by selling enough CDs to top the charts seems to be the prerequisite of an artist today….But if sales drop you’re suddenly labeled a has-been in their eyes. It makes you wonder if there is any true artist left in the music industry. There however is one artist who is true to his word-Mc, 357 Often referred to as a “Political Mc” , 357 believes that the “truth is just the truth” and he endorses knowledge in every verse of his music. His lyrics send a powerful message that opposes what the industry stands for- media, pop culture and propaganda. 357 never envisioned that he would become an accomplished artist in his day. Even as a child, he was greatly influenced by both rap and hip hop. He was first introduced to rap in the early 90s by his older brother who would play songs daily on his component set. His brother schooled him on a variety of artist of that time such as Snoop Doggy Dogg and Dr. Dre, Warren G, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu Tang Clan---just to name a few. Nas’s –It was written and 2pac’s – ALL Eyez on me are among the many albums that influenced his style into what it is today. At age 9, his parents found it difficult to make ends meet while living in Florida, so his family decided to move to Jamaica, where his father awaited inherited businesses by his grandfather. 357’s first recordings were tracked and mixed in a pre production studio over other artists instrumentals and given out for promotional use. By the age of 18, 357 knew he was destined to establish a career within the music business. 357 remains’ 100% independent and tirelessly working towards establishing a strong following with his music. He believes that having full ownership over his music is more important than any means of financial security the music industry has to offer. 357 has released four mixtapes which all include over 21 songs. 2005’s-Youngah Mc Older State of Mind Volume 1. 2006’s-Youngah Mc Older State of Mind Volume 2. 2008’s-Funeral of Rap 2009’s-The Lost Files of a Gun.
