This is a list of frequently asked questions about ZEDGE ToneSync. If you can't find an answer to your question, please contact ZEDGE and we'll try to resolve the issue.
To transfer ringtones, movies or music to your phone, Apple require you to use iTunes. There is unfortunately nothing we can do about that, even if we want to. Our mission is to make ringtones as easy as possible on any platform, and therefore we have developed ToneSync, to automate the download and import to iTunes process, so that all you need to do after setting it up, is to connect your phone and sync it with iTunes.
If you are having trouble following along with the iTunes steps in the setup Tutorial, we recommend restarting iTunes and going back to step 4 in the Tutorial. That way, you can ensure you've set up iTunes correctly with ToneSync.
Yes, you can watch the setup tutorial again by resetting ToneSync. Doing so means that you have to complete the setup process again. You can then re-link ZEDGE Ringtones & Wallpapers with ToneSync again after the reset is complete.
You must use the QR code scanner inside ZEDGE Ringtones & Wallpapers. Do not use your Camera or another app, as this will not work. The linking process between the ZEDGE Ringtones & Wallpapers and ToneSync requires an active internet connection on both devices. If you are unable to complete the link process, make sure that you have a working connection.
To download and sync Ringtones from Zedge to your iPhone, you have to use iTunes. This is a requirement from Apple, and there is nothing we can do about it.
ToneSync is placed in your Applications folder when you install it. To start it, simply double-click on the icon.
To find the ToneSync installer, go to www.zedge.net/tonesync and hit download.
Mac OS X 10.6 or later, iOS 5.0 or later, iTunes 9 or later, Intel based Macs only.
Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 8; iOS 5.0 or later; iTunes 9 or later.
We are aware that Windows 8 warns you about installing our app. This is because it is not available through their own application store. There is no danger in installing ToneSync as long as you download it from www.zedge.net/tonesync. Zedge is trusted by millions of users, and we want to keep it that way.
If you are not getting any ringtones, check the following: That you have an Internet connection on both your computer and your device, that ToneSync is running on your computer, and that you are synced with the correct device.
If you've checked all of the above, then reset the application from the ToneSync menu. You can then link your iPhone with ToneSync again. If this does not solve the problem, you will need to fully re-install the application.
For help with Wi-Fi sync, see this Apple support document.
The ringtones you downloaded are the same ringtones. They are occasionally named something different, though. Some ringtones have different ID3 tags than the filenames, and iTunes uses the ID3 tags instead of filenames when present.
iTunes will enable Tones in the side menu automatically if you have any ringtones in your library. If you don't see the tones area, you can turn it on in the iTunes preferences/settings. We have set ToneSync to run at startup by default to make sure that ringtones are automatically transferred to your iTunes library. ToneSync is an extremely lightweight program that will not reduce the performance of your computer while it is running.
We recommend having ToneSync running all times so that your ringtones are added to your iTunes library whenever as you press "Get ringtone" in ZEDGE Ringtones & Wallpapers. If you choose to close ToneSync, all your ringtones will be added to your download queue, and they will be downloaded to your iTunes library the next time you launch ToneSync.
