‘The Dark Knight Rises’: Christian Bale Praises Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman
After photos of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman in “The Dark Knight Rises” surfaced in August, doubts arose over whether the 29–year-old actress was right for the feline fatale. However, Anne’s co-star, Christian Bale, says he more than approves of her performance.
“I had plenty of scenes with Anne and I was there when we did the screen test for her,” Christian, star of the Christopher Nolan-directed Batman films, told the Philippine Inquirer. “The thing that I said to Chris [Nolan] that day was that there were many very accomplished actresses who had read for the role. I’m terrible at auditions, so I’m very impressed when somebody really seems to acquire an ownership of a character without having worked on it or prepared for some amount of time.”
Christian said Anne has been tasked with the “hardest job” in the film — finding a fresh approach to Selina Kyle/Catwoman, who previously was portrayed by screen icons like Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.
“In many ways, she has the hardest job,” he said. “There are a number of people who feel that the Catwoman role has been defined previously. So, I always saw Anne’s role as being the toughest job of any of us.”
'Dark Knight Rises' Trailer Attached To 'Sherlock Holmes'?
We now know that on December 16, a six minute prologue for "The Dark Knight Rises" will debut in front of certain IMAX showings of "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol," but according to the latest round of rumors, that won't be the only place to find a preview of the next Batman movie.
According to both Batman-on-Film and Batman-News, the first full trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises" will also premiere on December 16 in front of another holiday release, "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows." Both sites claim to have confirmed the story with unnamed sources.
For the first time, director Christopher Nolan is opening up publicly about THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Speaking to Empire Magazine in advance of the upcoming six-minute preview that will be in theaters with MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 4, Nolan talked about how this film fits into the trilogy.
"Perhaps surprisingly for some people, Nolan says, "our story picks up quite a bit later, eight years after THE DARK KNIGHT. So he's an older Bruce Wayne; he's not in a great state." You mean, he's in New Jersey?
Lest you think Nolan would give Bruce Wayne the opportunity to sip team and contemplate retirement Nolan adds, "With Bane, we're looking to give Batman a challenge he hasn't had before. With our choice of villain and with our choice of story we're testing Batman both physically as well as mentally."
So who is this Bane character anyway? Explains Tom Hardy: "He's brutal. Brutal....The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it's nasty. Anything from small-joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns." Ouch?
The film's costume designer explains Bane's look and hints at his origins somewhat by saying, "He was injured early in his story. He's suffering from pain and needs gas to survive. He can't survive the pain without the mask. The pipes from the mask go back along his jawline and feed into the thing at his back, where there are two canisters."
Speaking of origins, Nolan confirms that the six-minute prologue in December will focus mostly on Bane's beginnings so we'll all find out how it happens soon enough...
Is Warner Bros. already searching for someone to write the sequel to Man of Steel?
Not surprised at all by this news. There's a little rumor going around that Warner Bros. is searching for writers to pen the sequel to MAN OF STEEL.
Apparently the execs like what they see and want to go ahead with a sequel ASAP. Who cares what they think, when do we get to see something from the film beside the 800 set photos? I know it might be a little while since the film doesn't actually release until 2013.
So who is Warner Bros. trying to get for the sequel? Well the short list includes Steve Kloves (When is this guy not up for writing something?), Travis Beacham (CLASH OF THE TITANS, PACIFIC RIM), and Lawrence Kasdan (RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK). These guys have already taken a dip in the Warners pool so there's nothing too out of the ordinary here.
PLOT: In Ancient Greece, the evil King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) seeks a mythical golden bow, that will unleash the banished Titans upon the world, damning mankind to slavery. Forbidden to interfere in the affairs of man, Zeus (Luke Evans) and his fellow Gods must watch in anguish as Hyperion gets closer to capturing the sage Phaedra (Freida Pinto), who knows the location of the bow. Humanity's only hope is the peasant warrior Theseus (Henry Cavill), who was trained by Zeus himself, in the guise of an old man (John Hurt). But does Theseus have what it takes to vanquish an army?
REVIEW: Based on the trailers, one wouldn't be far off in guessing that IMMORTALS plays out like a cross between 300 and the remake of CLASH OF THE TITANS. Indeed, it takes the 300 fetishism (lots of well oiled heroes with abs, and villains that dig bondage) and sadism and mingles it with the Greeks Gods and monsters of CLASH OF THE TITANS. The result? Surprisingly watchable actually.

PLOT: In the future, people will stop aging at twenty-five. From that point, they will each have one year left on their imprinted time code, which they use as currency. The rich can virtually stay twenty-five forever, but the poor, including Will Salas (Justin Timberlake) and his mother (Olivia Wilde) have to struggle day in, day out with their impending mortality. When a rich man (Matt Bomer) gives Will a century worth of time, he uses it to gain entry into high society. When a tenacious timekeeper (Cillian Murphy) learns of his surplus of time, he charges Will with murder. Forced to take a heiress, Sylvia Weiss (Amanda Seyfried) hostage, Will goes on the run- determined to destroy the system that allows the rich to live forever.
REVIEW: IN TIME has a fantastic premise. We’ve all heard the old saying “time is money”, but here- it really is. Kudos to writer-director Andrew Niccol, who’s back in the same speculative sci-fi universe he examined in GATTACA. Like all good sci-fi, IN TIME is heavily influenced by the mess of a world we currently find ourselves living in- where the economy has gone berserk. The rich get richer, and the poorer get poorer- and time is the perfect metaphor for cash. After all, how can one be expected to live without income?
X-Men: First Class writers Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz are hired for Top Gun 2
So it seems that the TOP GUN sequel or whatever their calling it got some writers. Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz who collaborated on the script for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS will be penning the screenplay for TOP GUN 2.
Everyone knows the only reason you should do a TOP GUN 2 is another shirtless beach volleyball scene with some cheesy song playing in the background. Also, they have to wear white short shorts that go above the knee. Try to wash that image out of your head.
Apparently they tried to come up with a sequel concept and it didn't work. So instead they are trying to "reinvent" it for the more modern age. Boring.
There were no details on what the plot might actually be. Tom Cruise could possibly come back for a small role or cameo. I want Val Kilmer.
