Your phone is a Z800. Its just called the V802 because you bought it branded on the Vodafone network. That wont affect anything.

As for coverage, thats down to your network having a problem. Either you're in an environment that has poor coverage or the network has poor coverage in your area. Give them a call, theres not much else you can do with the phone to improve signal strength.

The only alternative which would explain the poor reception is that there may be a problem with the phones hardware, specifically the aerial, but i very much doubt it since usually SE phones are built to a high standard.

If there's any doubt...check out this tour of the SE Testing Labs in the USA.

um because there are a lot of dead spots which when my sim card is used in a different phone like nokia in the same spots it has a high signal... and i got another question because im going back to the U.S. will my phone be able to work fine there?? thnx for the info

Please post questions in the forum, so other people can help you too, dont just simply pm me.

3G (UMTS) signals are far less used than standard 2G phone signals, thats why they're patchy. However, making 2G phone calls should work fine unless it too has patchy coverage (not likely, unless somewhere remote).

As for working in the USA, the Z800i uses only the GSM 900, GSM 1800
and GSM 1900 bands. Most US operators require the GSM 850 band. The phone might work fine depending on your operator, but id rather say it'll not be likely to work without hiccups.

The US has very little coverage of other bands, and virtually no UMTS coverage. The Z800i might not work at all there. :s

It has 4 bands, the standard GSM bands and UMTS.

It does not have the 850 band which most US operators use, therefore would not work on their networks.

Almost all new SE phones when branded in the UK tend to have their names changed, especially on the Vodafone, 3, or Orange networks.

For example, the Z800i on Vodafone is called the V800, the K600i is called the K608 on 3, etc..

Its stupid IMO. Thats why i never buy phones from the networks, i buy their either unbranded from the shop on contract or PAYG, or completely sim free and unbranded from the internet.
