there are lot of threads and methods spread out online... google.. very good tips and methods..
but above all, a strong reason is needed to stop it..
problem is, the effect of smoking does not show up immediately...
i guess it's hard to stop until
1. one's gonna get cancer tomorrow
2. one's gf or bf has decided to dump you because of smoking
3. become a dad or mom and you cant smoke anymore
3. rare case, but, a God fearing person who feels guilty

i am a chain smoker and trust me its hard to give up. being a psychiatrist i my self try to control my mind but its difficult.
there is a cold turkey way (u stop smoking completely) or u reduce the cigarettes from 10 to 9 to 8 n virtually stop. but with that u need meds and motivation. try quit smoke strips (these strips are in your mouth and help stop the craving ) anti smoke gums (NICOTEX is the best) and you get a quit smoking filter (works if you are using the reducing method) . all the best
