there are lots of theories that speculates to this year.. 2012.. i just watched in history channel last night regarding predictions of nostradamus and the prophecies of different ancient civilizations regarding to the end of days which is as they said to be in 2012.. based on the prophecy, it was said that a catalystic event will happen that will change the course of life and the existence of humans.. the end of days is coming and that signs are showing already through its end.. the lost book of nostradamus was deciphered by experts as to explaining these sort of prohecies.. wether it is true or not it certainly is an opening to us all.. basing on what ancient civilzations have predicted that in the year 2012 a great earthly disaster will affect the human race.. they are not sure wether it is a physical destruction or something of godly interferance that would make us humans make a choice to a path of destruction or peace and harmony.. for me these sort of things are just warnings in which we people living in this time has nothing to loose if we try to believe or at least be aware of.. it was said that huge cyclones and tsunamis will strike every countries and more natural disasters will hit human cities and even crisis in the economy or finance are being said to be signs in these coming of end of days.. for sure we take these examples like hurricane katrina, tsunami in the indian ocean that killed thousands of lives and the recent typhoons battering the philippines as these events.. we can also say that the global warming thing might cause these intense or unpredictable weather disturbances that are greatly increasing to be very destructive.. we all think that as humans with all the developments we made to this planet.. we have caused t\its destrcution.. but we must also take into consideration that as humans.. we only got to live in just a second of earth's life.. and that the earth itseld has its own cycle of life.. recently scientist have proven that the earth has its own cycle of ice age and warming and even a time were supervolcanoes erupt and wipes out the entire life living on it and again will spread a new breed of life as what supposedly is it as a living planet.. and another consideration we have to put inplace is that.. as a planet living in this vast cosmic space.. there are so many physical spacial factors taht could affect us.. think again!!! what is the meaning of life!! is a chance that we had life?? or was it a purpose??

I don't buy into any of it. It's just like Y2K, everybody got all up in arms about it and... nothing. Absolutely nothing happened.

The main basis on the 2012 theory is the end of the Mayan calendar's 13th cycle which is around Dec 21, 2012, the winter solstice. What they don't tell you is that the Mayan calendar doesn't just stop, it keeps going. The 12th cycle ended in the 1600's and nothing happened then.

Another theory is that Earth is about 30,000 years overdue for a geomagnetic reversal, that is a complete reversal of our magnetic poles. So what! This happens every 760,000 years and since life has been around on Earth far longer than that, there is no evidence that this even would cause mass extinction. Besides, it doesn't happen overnight, it takes centuries to occur.

There are several other theories but I personally believe that we will see 2012 come... and go. But if it does happen, we are all going to die so what is there to worry about.

Just let it happen. :-)

By the way, did anyone happen to watch the movie '2012'? ... I just saw it yesterday, the special effects thrills are amazing, that too if you're watching it on the big screen. But at the end of it all I can say is, I just cant wait for the unrated comedy version of 2012... it will be laughing all the way to the grave...

It doesn't matter for the earth... when a person dies, the world continues to revolve, the waves of the ocean continue splashing in and out... Even if an important person dies, the world will continue... even if all humans die, the earth will still continue to exist... we humans need the earth but the earth doesn't need us.....
and Yeah, I've accepted the fact of death, heck it's everyone's destination.

Earlier it was said that everything will come to an end in 2000 but nothing happened.
