My SE W580i has vertical streaks that coordinate with whatever color is under them on the display. They came and went for a bit, now it seems they are here to stay and it's dark enough that I can't see through it. The local AT&T people are unhelpful and rude so I'm not going there and watch them spend an hour trying to find a way to blame it on me (it wasn't dropped, exposed to water etc...). I ran through the service test menu (*left*left*right*leftleft*left* ) and everything checked out fine so it's not a software problem. The phone hasn't been flashed anyway.

Has anyone else experenced this problem and/or does anyone have any suggestions as to what it might be? If it is the screen, has anyone here replaced one before? Because of a layoff and having a hard time finding a job I need to fix it as inexpensively as possible.

If anyone else has this problem with a Sony phone, it's the display. They sell for about the price of a new phone in most places, however I found one for $15.00 on eBay. It comes with the "tools" to take the cover off and replace the screen. It appears to be a straightforward fix, if I tear the phone up trying to repair it I'll let you know.

Read above post, it's not too hard of a job to replace it yourself. There's even a how to video on youtube if you ever need to do it. Service center = cost of new one. I'm still waiting on the part to arrive and it's the quality I'm worried about. I will post again after replacing it as a follow up for anyone else needing help.

You need to go to consumer forum (if any), i had faced this problem with the same handset. I've asked help in consumer forum, when tired off from service center. The replaced my old one and have me new one.
