I have a couple of mp3 ringtones that I thought I had downloaded to my iPhone directly with the send to phone option. I can't find the location to make them as ringtones on my iphone or where I have save them too. Is there an iPhone for Dummies book available. Or is there someone who would be willing to post steps to on where to locate the mp3 and save them to my phone. Can you use them as i.d. ringers?

First of all, , mp3 files wont play as ringtones unless u have installed "sendasong" software, secondly this software works on 1.1.2 and lower version.
If u have higher version than u might want to download .m4r files and sync w/ iphone via itunes.

You can also do the following, set your PC to show file extentions and then in itunes convert to AAC, once you locate the new file rename as .M4V BANG you now have a ringtone.
