wolf,

i just remember seeing that. go to your preferences and select importing. you should see something saying WAV importer. select it until you see AAC or MP3 importer.

The renaming back to an "m4a" is very weird. Try doing the steps again up till step 8.
After you have deleted the file from Itunes only. Cut and paste the file in a different location.
Like on your desktop and then open with Itunes.

I can not think of a reason for the renaming back other than you do not have administrator privileges.

If that doesn't work. Then I am out of answers. :>(

Hello, I was able to sync the ringtone to my iphone (3g) but it doesn't show under the sounds/ringtones section. any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

* I renamed the file to a shorter file name and it worked. go figure!

Glad to hear it worked for you. I must say I'm have no 3G Iphone. I read the manual and nothing has changed.

But I would go back and double check Itunes.
1. Make sure the ringtones you made are in the ringtone folder. (on the left column on Itunes)
2. Make sure the ringtones that you want are highlighted. (in the syncing tab)
3. Sync then check your phone again. From the manual it's still settings/sounds/ringtone/
4. The "custom" ringtones on the top of the page and the standard on the buttom.

If this still doesn't work. Try rebooting your phone. And check again.

@brucille,

From the steps. You have to give me more info at what step your are having problems.

1. Make sure your file is under 30 seconds.
2. Make sure after you convert the file to AAC, find your file and cut/paste to your desktop.
3. Then right click on file. Go down to "Open with" and select "iTunes".

It should import to your ringtones folder.

*I'll check back within 24hours.
