Inanimate objects can't be evil. To be evil requires intent. Credit cards don't intend to do evil they just lay there. The evil is in the holder.

Credit cards can be evil if you don't know how to handle it.
I have a credit card and only use it when I go overseas

If you are planning to go overseas it is a MUST to have a
credit card. I normally pay off any outstanding balance as soon as possible
so i don't incur any interest.

As with any credit it can be a great servant and a BAD MASTER.

Credit cards, like most any other thing in this world, is only evil if the hands holding them are evil. Let me try to explain.

In theory, a credit card is a great thing! If you ever run out of cash, you always have a credit card handy. Its very bad too go up to a register in a store and find out you dont have enough cash. Acctually, if you carry a credit card with you, you wont need to drag around all that cash. Nothing worse than loosing your wallet full of cash. If you loose your credit card, you can just call your bank and they barr it.
If you have self control, a credit card is great!

Now, the bad sides of credit cards. As mentioned by others, it causes people to be in lot of debt to the bank if they cant control themselfes. Also, i tend too spend way more money when i use my credit card. If i am in town with some friends, its easy to spend 20 bucks here and 50 bucks there with a credit card, because you never run out of money, and you just drag your card! It dosent really feel like you are spending money. If i bring cash, i know exactly how much money i bring with me, and then i know how much i can spend, and if i spend too much money i notice it right away. Not with a credit card though.

Credit cards are like drugs. In the right hands it can be a life saver, but it can ruin peoples lives if it falls in the wrong hands.

I think banks should be more strickt on who they give credit cards and loans to. Its way easy to get both now a days.
