I've said it before and I will say it again. Zedge is a community, and a very fast growing one at that. I personally think "Site Guards" are a good idea, they will help take the "load off" Mods and the Admin. To answer a few questions I've seen in this topic:
1. I believe the duties of the Site Guards was spelled out very clearly, so a generalization that "new SiteGuards do not understand what is required of them" is false. It is very clear what is expected of them and what is not. 2. Yes everyone is asked to help keep Zedge "clean" however with 9 million members, I'd hazard a guess that less then 1% actually report anything unless it personally affects them (like a rude guestbook posting). Site Guards have actually asked for the added responsibilities thus creating a "work force" that is expected to do thier duty so to speak. 3. I would agree that many would just want the Badge and not do the "work", again I would have to guess that these members would be "weeded" out in time. 4. I believe Zedge always "grabs the bulls by the horns". As with any community there is and always will be "trouble makers"... dealing with them and the other issues that face Zedge on an hourly bases is very time consuming. Everyones issue is important, but not everyones issue will be solved the way that individule would like it to be all the time. Thats just the way it goes. 5. As far as the " freedom of speech and posting topics and pictures that people can share enjoy and laugh at", well.. lets face it, not everyone has the same sense of humor or taste in pictures, jokes, etc. So when a problem develops it is handled in the best interest of the Zedge Site, the Admins make every effort to be fair in all aspects, but in the end the best interest of the Zedge Site is considered first and foremost. Every user of Zedge is a guest of the Zedge Site, and must accept, understand and post, upload and contribute following those rules. 6. People seem to think that the SIte Guards have some sort of end all decision in the content on Zedge, they dont. Only the Admin team has the ability to actually remove anything reported by the Site Guards.
I hope this clears up some of the issues on Site Guards. |
