Hello all! My question is pertaining to the copyright rules. Just about every song in the world has copyright protection. If we cannot create ringtones from our favorite songs why allow anyone to upload any ringtones at all? Another site I have found says as long as the ringtone is not over 30 sec long there is no copyright infringement. Why are your rules different? Are they wrong

I really like the ringtone maker on this site better than the others. It would be nice if we could just make the ringtone without the having to share it. That way we won't have these violations in the future. I primarliy create ringtones for personal use anyways

Thank you very much, have been waiting for this for ages.

BTW I work for some copyright infringement etc... and it isnt illegal to upload 30 seconds of any song. Which is the cut off mark anyway.

i get sick of every time i upload a tone its on there for all of 1 day max and then i get a email that its deleted for copyright reasons so why even bother making tones if they are going to be deleted every time

I do think its kinda stupid if things get deleted. As long as the clip is under the 30 second mark, you are not infringing copyrights. Its only if you go over that. I am also sure they give you some way around that as well.

Thats why alot of songs on Imeem are now playing on 30 seconds, cause Imeem changes it. Yahoo has the same now. Why not us?

Maybe it's stupid but we need to respect copyrights - we're not making these policies just to piss you off.. It's a reason of course. As stated earlier we will allow you to create and store the ringtones privately.
