Scratch-proof screen *laughs*
sorry...no offense but mine's all scratched...i'm thinking of getting a new casing for it at my local SE centre...so i'd say its not scratch proof...
i was stupid not to get an anti-scratch screen cover for it when i got it. i got it for all my other stuff (phones, PSP, etc) but i dont know why i forgot to buy one when i got the S700i. later i realised i already had a scratch and said "oh well...buy one when i get the casing replaced"
but yeah its a great screen, and the cam is much better quality than those 'supposed' pics by the K750i

and no i havent checked out the z1020 yet, i'll go check it out now

edit: i've checked it out...but why does the z1020 remind me of the 6260? a rotating screen flip-phone...that must be why...
let's see...looking at it...i see UIQ, MS PRO Duo, either 3.5 or 2.5mm headphone jack, sounds good so far...but how's it gonna do videocalls without a cam towards the user? SE's not gonna take 3G away from its z10xx series is it?

Not that i know of...but these hard plastic anti-scratch 'film's for the screen are bloody good. the downside? the matt, anti-scratch, anti-fingerprint, anti-reflection surface blurs the light a little, therefore downing the 'appearance of quality' and brightness of the screen. i changed cover on my 7610 (therefore losing my screen protector) and went WOW...i never knew my 7610's screen was so good...
same goes with the PSP...quality is 'blurred' a little...

Say...i dunno about cost but i've never seen one for sale!
and like u say...its worth trading off a little quality to protect the baby
