I was messing around with my old V300 running 'Motorola Service Software' V3.5.8 on it. The last thing I did was to write display settings for a V70. After switching the phone off it won't switch on again. The best I can get is the keypad to light up but that's it.

I know it's my own fault for messing around with it but I would appreciate any ideas for sorting it out.

Thanx

The number one question is... did you make backups? If so its pretty easy to fix, if not.. well.. you might be able to still find V300 flash amd flex files... you'll have to look around for them (motox, motomodders type places).

it won't be easy finding a new flash/flex file for MSS, i would suggest installing PST and finding the files needed for that, this may be quicker and easier.

I saved copies of the: battery, display & logo settings before doing anything. Is this enough to be able to restore it ?

Nope, you need all the files. Head on over to motomodders they have everything you'll need and instructions

PST is a Phone Programmer that allows you to service the phone... it comes with other programs built in like pFlex and MFF (motoFlash/Flex).
as you don't know the programs i would opt for one called RSD Lite 2.0.3 and like suggested above search for a V300 monsterpack and flash the phone.... eg.

File Type: Monster Pack
Flash Version: TRIPLETS_G_0B.09.72R
Flex Version: SE6424AXXT11D4_1FF
Carrier: Motorola Retail
Phones: V600
Language Pack: 0032
Release Date: January 17,2005

THIS FILE WILL NOT LOCK YOUR PHONE

Thanx greenleaf
I signed up on Motomodders as bupahs suggested. I got the monster pack you suggested there already but I wasn't sure which software was best to use on the phone. I'll try the RSD Lite. I've already tried some of the apps there like P2kman, FlashBackup & Flex Tools but they don't detect the phone. I also get a blank white screen in flash mode so I may have to sort that out as well.

Anyway thanx for you help

Cool I got RSD Lite (V2.4) and the monster pack
But the problem now is that it doesn't seem to be able to find the phone.
I select the MP file no problem but nothing happens when I click 'Show Device' or 'Start' .
I'm using a serial cable if that matters, motomodders stuff seems to be geared towards usb. Am I missing some drivers or something ?

look for driver pack p2k 2.9 and load program and update drivers in your device manager pointing windows to where you keep the drivers.
