Hi friends,
I wanted to know (based on your personal experiences) that is there any AV that genuinely works without slowing down the phone or any other side effect/s.
I have tried Simworks, F-Secure, Symantec and some other. Interesting part is that my phone(6670) was infected 7 times in their presence and working on full potential with best settings.

Yanno I've tried all of those, too.
And they all had their pros n cons.
F-Secure, bugged me the most. I could NOT get the damn thing to uninstall. I had to format my phone!!
The one thing I did like and remember about F-Secure was that I could turn off the "real-time" scanning, so it wasn't at least always running as a process on my phone.

If your phone was infected 7 times, methinks you need to stop downloading that warez (kidding...sort of) or installing files sent via bluetooth ;)

Thank you Lokehemenu, once again.
I am delighted to have your reply. Even I had the same experience with F-Secure but I did not have to format the phone.
Have you tried McAfee ?
Lokhemenu it will be a great service if you could present all your experience in a summarised form on how to be safe with smartphones ?
As far as me is concerned I am a bit afraid of Warez and torrents so never touched them even.I got virus attack by downloading applications and once through game-MVR cricket.Though I always check how safe is a site but even then sometimes.....
Can't help it man.
I am quite a technology, especially mobile, freak and keep on downloading new things on mobile and computer though from trusted sites.(And so an experienced man, hahaha.... just joking !)

Thank you once again for your reply.

McAfee really is good. If not the best. Another anti- that is good is NetQin. it also has the option to turn monitor off

baby zegder, try symantec. but i advice to update it right away thru gprs.

maybe the virus lures in your memory card. try scanning it on pc. if you format your phone but you insert the same memory card without scanning it or formatting . . . the same problem might occur again.

symantec only works for latest nokia models, it wont work on 6600. we tried it to two of my friends, it wont install.

there are already viruses targeted directly at the antivirus software programs , that are being posted on some websites. i've encountered several so called free Anti Virus programs ( none of the ones mentioned in this thread so far) which contain a basic AV prog, but also virus code which arracks REAL AV software eg Symantec and F-Secure. now i'm just running without AV, no problems so far. i just keep bluetooth turned off most of the time.

No configuration is 100% safe from all the thousands of "little bugs" that are unleashed everyday, everywhere.
We can only hope that our configuration doesn't allow "them" to damage our data, our computer or our privacy.
