Hi,
After the total saved SMS reached max.limit 999 in MMC, I cannot view them as you would normally when an SMS is received (the inbox window that is). Nokia 6600 is not able retrieve'em from the MMC. I can only use the phone memory for the new coming SMS. I know the unviewable SMS are in MMC for I can read them by FExplorer file editor (viewer). I would like to save these messages kept in MMC to my PC before I format the MMC that will probably solve the problem . Will appreciate your support if we can figure a way to transfer the SMS in MMC to my PC. Thank you for your time.

There are programs to help you out here. Oxygen 2 is probably your best choice but its not free. I dont think the Nokia PC Suite allows u to transfer sms'. if it does, then thats got to be the better option.

You might also wanna look into FMA : http://fma.sourceforge.net/
Its free, but currently is based on the SE phones and support is mainly for them, but it does work with Nokia phones to a certain extent.

Thank you indeed, however, let me revise the problem again, my bad there. I can transfer the sms via bluetooth using Msgstorer, but that applies for, say for instance, the inbox messages, or sent messages folders right? I choose the SMS (put a check) and then simply send them to the PC. Now, for the UNVIEWABLE SMS (the ones that are in MMC), I cannot do that. I thought of one option, I did a transfer from the MMC to phonememory, but then it only sent the previously backed up SMS only, that is about 200 smth. I want the remaining 799 which are in MMC. I am not sure if I am clear enough, but thats the problem.

OK I'm gonna try to put it better'n if anyone could help me solve this, I really will appreciate it. The phone was set to save SMS into MMC, with max 999 SMS. I guess when the MMC SMS folder was full (well not quiet really, for I remember I still had space for 50 SMS or so, I dunno why it did it), it suddenly converted settings to saving SMS into phone memory. Starting from that point, I am never able to view the SMS in MMC because for me to read them, I need to choose MMC SMSs correct? Well when I go to SMS settings and choose MMC, it will not accept it. So deleted some SMS in MMC using FExplorer, thinking if I lower the number of SMS, then perhaps the phone can allow me to switch back to MMC SMS memory (This is boring I know, but if your still reading this post, appreciate it indeed). Anyhow, that did not work. I can only view'em, like I said in my first post, using FExplorer file viewer. The SMS in that MMC has high sentimental value to me and thats why I wont even sell this phone until I have the problem resolved. So, it wont matter even if I cannot view them on a regular phone screen, just as long as I can find a way to transfer these to my PC, I will be very very very happy. Thank you so much again.

I think the programs i mentioned should be able to read directly from ur MMC and retrieve any SMS's there. or why not try using u have a card reader if you own or know someone who has one.

Yes, just for that purpose, I purchased a 4-in-1 cardreader. With the cardreader, your only able to transfer files like pictures, ringtones, etc... Phonememory SMS no problem.. MMC SMS, problem...unviewable, only by FExplorer viewer...

Try using oxygen phone manager because that reads all sms from your phone and you can view and save them onto your pc.

Nuwy, sandeep108, and fone fanatic... Thank you. I'm still at work, but once I go home, I will try all your suggestions and let you know. What would be the reason for index file getting corrupt though?

Also is there a way to correct the index file should that be corrupted, so I can start using the MMC for SMS again?

Im afraid the only way you can correct the corrupted index file (if it is corrupted) by formatting your memory card. Before you do that, try using Oxygen to get all your SMS's copied onto your PC. Or google for a way to do this, im sure there are many answers.

Once youve managed to backup ur SMS's successfully (and anything else you might have valuable on your MMC), it would be good to format it just incase.
